Preface and Purpose

Flashback to the autumn of 2008!

Silence filled the empty classroom where the first meeting of the year will be held. I look at the time on my cellphone. It's five more minutes until the meeting begins and where are all the college students? Did I put up enough flyers in the hallway? I'm sure I told the other officers... Eventually, an unfamiliar student appears. I wave, happy to see that the message got out. Slowly it seemed, the students started coming in, filling up the empty chairs. Then, the meeting began...

This article is mainly for those new to a club position who never had any leadership experience. Hopefully from reading this article, you may gain some insight to leading your organization to fun, adventure, and growth. For everyone else, enjoy reading!


Mission


For my presidency in VSA, I made it my goal to increase club membership. Increased club membership would increase the club funding, club strength (set of skills and abilities), and overall the fun factor from having more people. However, I was the type of person with poor public speaking skills, organizational skills, and any skill of a typical leader *cough* Obama *cough*. The only skills I have were a vast knowledge of different icebreaker games. So at each meeting, I what the only thing I knew how to do. In my opinion, everyone has different talents.
